Abstract:
A commentary on issues raised by the Commissioner of the Crime and Misconduct Commission in relation to the Scott Flavell matter, including potential conflicts of interest, breaches of confidentiality, loss of confidentiality, loss of confidential information and intellectual property.
A private sector perspective on recruiting staff from the public sector, including the gaining of insights and understanding of the pressures faced by government, the accountability required by government and key stakeholders, understanding the operation of governments, processes, risk management standards and the differences between commonwealth, state and local governments.
More generally, the risks in losing key staff, loss of corporate memory, theft of confidential information and intellectual property in the context of staff departure and other forms of inappropriate behaviour in this context.
