Abstract:
This paper begins by discussing the theoretical difficulties inherent in any effort to develop fair and objective performance measures for anti-corruption agencies. It then analyses the types of performance indicators that have been used by Australian anti-corruption agencies, mainly in their annual reports. The paper assesses the quality of this reportage and proposes a more developed set of indicators that should be used to enhance accountability.
